If you follow me on Bluesky, you've already seen this, but not all in one post.  I've decided to share more of my content from over there, but not everything of course,  because that would be, well, rather odd. So I'll be sharing a modified form, and will only include content that feels "journal-ish" to me.  Any Bluesky installments that I think are pertinent to the time when I originally posted will be back dated to their original posting date.

I've never been good at following directions.

Titles from this place, as usual.  If I am going to start journaling, and I think I am, and I continue here at LiveJournal, I will have to go with a paid account.  Pondering...

Other stuff:

Word well has been dry for, well, I don't know how long the word well has been dry.  I need to find my words and start writing with them again.

I also need to go back to focusing on no more than 5 tasks a day.  I've been wanting to get so much done, that I get nothing done.  Professional procrastinators and folks with ADD/ADHD will totally get that.

For those who are also friends at Facebook (which would be most of the people who know that this journal exists), the grandparents saga continues.  While my brother-in-law found them a semi-assisted living facility 15 minutes away from his home, my mother-in-law recently had another major health event -- heart failure.  The doctors were unable for perform a bypass surgery due to poor lung function, which might actually be a good thing, from a purely selfish basis.  That means that they are putting in stents, and she will be able to return to the apartment at Jordan Oaks.  Which means Grandpa won't have to move back in with us while she goes through at least 4 weeks of recovery and physical therapy.  But that still could happen in the future.  I feel like I should feel more guilty about being somewhat glad that they couldn't give her the surgery she ought to have.

Movies, books, all that stuff?  While the grandparents lived here, none of that happened with any conscious engagement.  I know I've watched movies in the past 4 months, but really, I don't remember what I've seen.  If I had any time at the end of the day, I would zone in front of the TV, usually to The Big Bang Theory.  Not too challenging, but also not your typical dumb as dirt sit-com.  I do feel a strong desire to own the entire series so that I can watch them order.  The first book I've read since...well, like visits to the word well, visits to library had halted for so long I'm lucky I remembered where it was.  But I found it, and checked out Sunshine by McKinley and Ink &  Steel by Bear.  Picked up another McKinley (can't remember which one now) and another entitled Forest Daughter, but can't remember the author.  An entry regarding books, both those on the shelf and those on my nook will be prepared in the relatively near future.

That's all for now, because 13 minutes ago I was supposed to go to a friend's house and keep her company while she makes a King Cake.  Which, by the way, she makes very well.

Haven't written in 10 days.  I reported to [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90  for mocking.  I will return to writing tomorrow.  I did write my summary last Saturday, but that doesn't count towards word count.

books

Um, I'll have to check and see what books I have lying around and what books are on my queue at the library, and figure out what I've read and what I haven't read it.  I talked to Jenny the other day, and she jogged my memory about the book that was missing from my list, Ever, by Gail Carson Levine.  I'll update the list later.

I probably have something else that I should be saying, but I can't, for the life of me, remember what it is.

words
10812 if them so far.  I'm a bit ahead of the game, which is good.  That means over the next couple of days I can do some more rearranging, then "seed" plot points to tie together what I have so far (this is definitely a group of related scenes right now), then start fleshing out the rest of the part.  I know where I want this go, I think, but I don't quite have the words to summarize it.  It makes me feel a bit like Anana.

movies
Still haven't watched Identity.  Did see Looney Tunes: Back in Action.  Next up for Tiger Claw is Bedtime Stories.  Not sure what is up for home next...it's Jenny's pick, so it might be Bride and Prejudice.

life
I've realized that I'm spending way too much of time on Tiger Claw.  I  need to find the right boundary.  Master J is a friend, and I want to do what I can to help his business, but it's not my business, and I don't have to give as many "free hours" to Tiger Claw as I do.  I'll still donate time and stuff, because that's just what I do, but if I keep doing it at the rate I am now, I'll burn out.

On a very positive note, I've finally got around to putting lounge chairs on the small deck (really, it's more of a balcony or lanai in stature).  I also actually mulched the front garden and planted some annuals.  If I ever get around to figuring out how to upload pictures from my phone to the computer (it came with a USB connection, I just haven't played with it yet), I'll share.

books
I have a lot of unread and partially read books lying around.  Color me a pale shade of ADD.  In various corners of the house you will find Elizabeth Bear, a handful of health and organization nonfiction tomes, KenFollet, Orson Scott Card, and some kid-lit lying around.

Apparently, Live Journal does not like to cut a portion of a list. Let's fix this...

Dang it.  I read a couple more books, which were in the post that livejournal ate (and no, they weren't saved in a draft, I checked), which I already removed from my library queue.  And the library doesn't maintain a history of checked out books.  I also read at least one of Jenny's library books, and the title and author escape me right now.  So I might re-update tomorrow with the titles which are eluding me right now.

books
I have a pile of books from last year to return to the library, and have a couple waiting for me.  I'll be swinging by the library on my way to work tomorrow.  I need to find a good book bag.  I used to have a great back that had a replica of an old map of the world on it, but somewhere along the way, I've lost it.  I need a replacement.

journaling
I'm still thinking about changing the name of this journal, still unwilling to commit.  Maybe it's not worth changing.

movies
I still have Juno and From Hell at home.  I don't know if I'll ever get those two movies watched.  I've had them home since November 18.  Life without late fees makes me tend towards the pathetic.

words
Um.  I think I've forgotten how to wax poetic.

order
I've been easily distracted of late, so life hasn't been exactly orderly lately.  I need to work on this.

I have a lot of McCaffrey, many of which are rereads this year, along with a solid dose of Pollan and Bear.  If the reading goes quickly due to the rereads, I might add some of the classics which I've been meaning to read, but just never get around to reading.

I think that's everything.  This year's highlights in reading were the Scalzi books.  I should have read them sooner.  Now, I need to see what I planned to read this past year, what I still want to read next year, and update my library queue.  This year, I will not delete books from library queue until I posted my final 2010 summary.  I think I'm forgetting something from this past year, but I'm not sure what.

Edited to add...I read most of the Little House books this year, so I've edited the list to include those which I read.  Not sure how I forgot those, since the library said that the Cookbook was overdue, when I actually returned it.  I found it on the shelf, and they removed it from my card.  That was about the same time as the book hiding in Jenny's sparring gear bag.

There is a second half to this which I will post later, but I have something else which needs attending at the moment!

order
I did take both before and after pictures of the secretary desk; I just haven't uploaded them to the computer yet.  I also should have taken pictures before I rearranged the living room and the family room.  It's hard to take pictures of an entire room, though, so that might not be a loss.  Just know that my living room and family room are rather tidy.  I need to attack the desk area of the family room, however.  Moving a mess from the living room to the family room does not solve anything, it just moves it.  Oh, well.

words
I haven't written in ages; I've been too busy reading, I think.  I did notice that I have recorded something on my mp3 player -- I'll check it out later.

time
I've decided that at least one day each week for the rest of the summer to do something with substance with family members.  Tomorrow, I'm planning to go to Cunningham Falls with Jenny and Jack.  If I remember to pick up batteries for the camera, I'll take pictures.

I am temporally challenged. Always have been. Most likely always will be.

This time, we ended up celebrating Father's Day a week early. Better early than late, right?

We went to see a movie, DH's choice: Angels and Demons. While neither Jenny nor Jack are scarred from event, the PG-13 is justly earned...some scenes are rather grisly. After the movie, we went to eat at the Fuddruckers in Ashburn, which nearly ended very badly. It was overcrowded, but that was not obvious from the counter where you order. We place our order, but there is no place to sit. DH wasn't pleased. A manager sort of person (I think) ended up finding a table for us just as DH was about to find someone to hand in the receipt and get our money back. The burgers were good, but not good enough to return to that Fuddruckers...DH has little patience with poor management.

On to the movies and books...

order
I still haven't worked on the scrapping pile or the small secretary desk.  Today I need to get some general tidying done, because Lili has invited a small horde of friends to go to Wednesday Night Live with us tonight.

words

...are still waiting patiently for me on the very full voice recorder.

movies
I saw Twilight this weekend on pay-per-view.  What an uninspired and boring movie.  While the books were not paragons of literature, I wouldn't  describe them as deathly boring (well, some of the extended teen/vampire angst did become wearying).  After the movie, I checked my pulse to see if I was still alive.

books
Several partial reads are still floating around the house.  I'll hit the 50 page rule on some of them, give up and not bother listing a few others, and actually finish Foreigner (though that will be a speed-read/skim sort of thing...I just want to refresh my memory before I read the other books in the series).  I'll post an updated list this weekend.

time
Facebook is now a short internet interlude, instead of time consumer search for friends who use the platform.  I'm enjoying, but not obsessed.  Many of my Delphi contacts are there, so I may be dropping Delphi completely in the future. In terms of time management, that would definitely be a good decision.

words
I have a voice recorder that is literally full of snippets.  Can't record another second.  Not even a nano-second.  Full.  To the brim.  Filled it a few weeks ago, actually, and haven't taken the time to listen to it.  I will do that tonight.  Or tomorrow morning.  I also have the pile of the November project poetry sitting next to my desk, waiting patiently for me to do something with it.

books
I have checked out many books from the library since my last book update.  I've started to read them, gotten side tracked, renewed them, remained side tracked, and still didn't finish them.  I currently have Foreigner at home which I will read this week, and I have a Deepak Chopra's attempt at fiction (the title eludes me for the moment) which I am declaring unreadable.  He needs to stick to non-fiction.  I will update my book list once I actually read something.

order
My next two tasks are my small secretary desk, and the scrapbook/photo album pile.  I've taken the before pictures, but do not have the time to upload them now...I need to cook our not-so traditional St. Patrick's Dinner of meatsauce in the crockpot to go with pasta.
