Cross-posted from [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90:

I'm Mary and I've started this twice before, but have never completed a project. I blame that on my not-exactly-officially diagnosed ADD (the
NP thinks so, but I've never bothered going to a specialist since I manage to do all the important things in life like maintain relatively healthy relationships and the pays the relatively on time).

I know I'm capable of finishing something, as I did finish the unpublishable book in another lifetime before getting married and having kids. My second daughter (age 14) is debating between Ni90 and NaNoWriMo. Having family support might make it easier this round.

I even have a half baked idea based on three dreams that I had last night which where definitely my brain trying to tell me a story.

Wish me luck. I need it!

Ack.
Wish I could edit comments. Please ignore the oddness in the parenthetical comment. Surprisingly enough, I am capable of coherent sentences which are grammatically correct when I verify the connection between brain and fingers.

Yeah, it's a random title.  If you want to know where I got, ask me.

Because I have already run out of words for tonight by catching up on my [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90 I shall repost what I posted there (cut and paste is a beautiful thing)

.................
So. It's Friday. And I didn't write since Tuesday, and I properly admitted my need for mockery for Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Granted, the request for Monday's mockery came on Tuesday, and Wednesday and Thursday's mockery quests were posted earlier this evening. (Oh. Wait, it's now tomorrow morning, isn't it? 12:03 AM)

BUT.................

(I know, tacky, all caps, in a line all by its lonesome, save for an excess of periods which isn't an ellipsis, but this "but" deserves it, dagnabit!)

I have made up for all of these things. I have found redemption in a solid 2364 words for today. Some of those are new, some are rearranged**. But that officially makes me "all caught up" at 6778 words.

(watch me do one of those silly dances where I circle my arms in front of me and make a strange face that embarrasses my daughters).

Relief!

**NOTE: When I refer to "rearranged" words, they are largely typed in rather large chunks from what remains of the beginning of a manuscript script written in 2007. It is an incomplete manuscript for which I only had a hard copy (my computer has been reformatted twice since that time, and apparently, I never backed this experiment up. Thankfully, I printed it out. My word count is a straight word count from Word, as words find their way into this ressurection of this document.

title here

words:
843 for Satuday
897 for today
3284 all together

These are mostly rearranged words, with a few handful of new words to spice the project up.  Because, you see, it only takes me three years or so of sitting on something that I nearly forgot that I wrote to come up with an actual plot, so I now know how those words I wrote in 2007 are supposed to fit together.

I think this means that I'm a late bloomer.

Nothing else for now; I just didn't want to forget my word count, while it was fresh.  Mostly, these are rearranged words, not new words.  New words will come sometime next week, most likely.

It's [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90  time, and I've decided to participate.  I'm brushing off something that I started when [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90  was new.

Apparently, Live Journal does not like to cut a portion of a list. Let's fix this...

I'm writing again. I think. So far, I haven't written any new words, but I have cut many, and I'm left with the words I've chosen: 1468/~67500

Now I'm off to try to figure out what the strange screaming in the distance is...

word count: 811 new words; 12186 total

I'm printing the monstrosity out right now. I have little bits that are out of order, and I have embedded notes included in that word count. Most likely, the notes will be cannibalized into text. If not, I'll have some "make up work" to do along the way. Once the print job is done, I'll do so physical jumbling of pages, and some plot outlining. Next writing session will have a lot of cutting and pasting to do first, to get everything in order.

This is the same piece that I was working on for [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90, but I think I have the real title now. Or at least a working title that doesn't make me twitch: Beneath the Sands.

After I finish this, I'm going to finish the piece I started for NaNoWriMo. Then I'm going to rewrite the first novel that I ever wrote. That one should be fun, because it was so bad that I threw it out. But there are still things about it that lurk inside my brain...people I know, places I want to go. So I think I'll start it over from scratch. It should be interesting.

My goal is get something published by the time I'm 45. That gives me three years. Wish me luck.

Okay, I deleted all the embedded notes. Then I dillied. After that I dallied. While watching Prince of Egypt with Jack, I started writing. I had a net word count for today of 791 words. This is an interesting project.

That's what I gave as my title when I signed on to the [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90 challenge. I don't know where the hell that came from, but it might be what I'm writing. Only when I saved the document, I saved it as "Under the Shadow of the Mountain". I don't know what the hell that means, either. But whatever. I started futzing around with the NaNoWriMo document, but it just felt dead. So I dropped it.

I have no clue what I'm writing now. Here are my first 818 words:

clicky thing )

I have no idea what the hell I'm doing here. I have no characters defined, no plot selected, not even scenes in mind. Just Anana and her words scattered like pearls across the floor. Somehow I doubt this is how the professionals do it, but, well, whatever.
