I've been writing poems since I was 8 years old. I just play with the words until they feel right to me.

Pick up a spiral notebook, and let your imagination wander.

Or, you could take a creative writing class. I did that once in college, and I was told that I should stick to prose. So I wrote an unpublishable novel, quit writing for years, then returned to writing poetry.

Don't let anyone tell you that there's only one way to develop your poetic voice.

creative writing in college sounds like itd be a good idea, how do u improve quick (ig u js have to start from nowhere but i dont wanna start off sucky if that makes sense)

ig thats all part of learning a new thing tho and part of what makes it rewarding

We all start off sucky. And sometimes continue to suck. You should see the poems I don't share.

As a kid, I would sometimes have short poems just pop into my head. I don't remember if I've posted them here, but I did share them in my other journal:

That's a great way to start. I think of it as playing with words. Sometimes, I come up with nothing, but the more regularly I play with words, the more comfortable I become with the words I weave together.

So yeah -- have fun with it!
