carving paths both raw and steady
through the flesh that binds me
i fancy being free.

Date: Monday, 27 April 2026 02:57 am (UTC)I've been writing poems since I was 8 years old. I just play with the words until they feel right to me.
Pick up a spiral notebook, and let your imagination wander.
Or, you could take a creative writing class. I did that once in college, and I was told that I should stick to prose. So I wrote an unpublishable novel, quit writing for years, then returned to writing poetry.
Don't let anyone tell you that there's only one way to develop your poetic voice.

Date: Monday, 27 April 2026 04:55 pm (UTC)As a kid, I would sometimes have short poems just pop into my head. I don't remember if I've posted them here, but I did share them in my other journal:

I'm trying to find all the snippets and bits that I still have copies of and put them in one comprehensive, but poetry-dedicated, journal.
