Voices in circles; wind travels the night.
Colors of clear gliding in flight.
Together apart, faces unseen,
Together alone, endless aching dream.
Searching for something within the soul,
A body in winter, extremities cold.
Striving to find the magic in logic,
Then hiding the skeleton in the dank dusty closet.
The whispering trees of the dark world would,
But only a wizard, a dreamer, a dragon could.
Voices in circles, paradox unending,
Unbroken rules, perpetually bending.

Masonry
The roads of the neighborhood
never run straight lines.
From Yankee Doodle Lane to Princeston Court
we wander.
I am lost
as I tell you where you are.
In little time we have built our fortress of intimacy.
Again, Sweetbriar,
together we turn a corner and
home awaits.
I have known you for centuries.

Lingering here,
I hold tightly to memories,
their frayed ends unraveling,
slipping from my graps.

The Test
It started as an uphill climb,
but had a walking stick,
so I passed.
It dropped at mid-day,
below sea-level,
but I had a submarine,
so I passed.
It rose at sunset,
like a helium balloon,
but I had a piece of string,
so I passed.
At nightfall it slept,
but I had a blanket,
and kept it warm,
and triumphed.
